Hello,

I have fedora 10 and I used yum to install openoffice.org-core and headless. This completed successfully but it appears the soffice executable location is different than 2.x or might even be a different executable all together.

Has anyone successfully installed Openoffice 3 and got it to run headless?

Thanks,
Greg

I'm trying to user Openoffice 3 instead of 2.4 om a ubuntu server 8.04 with labs 3 stable because i cannot have content indexed with office 2007 documents.
I've also read around that new OO3 doesn't have headless version, is it true ?
What component have i to install to have same functions i've had with 2.4 headless?
Thanks a lot

Hi Mike, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it seems not to be the same issue , i have no error when starting soffice  it only doesn't work with office 2007 documents….
Today i'm going to install full OO3 even if in my ubuntu server 8.04 i do not have any X11 server, maybe i miss some packages.
I wonder there is none using labs 3 stable on linux with same office 2007 indexing problem like me …
Any oyher things to verify ?

Apologies - I can see now the headless question wasn't answered.

Did you try the OOo forums? e.g. http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4767

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Myke , i've solved my problem  Smiley Very Happy
I've installed OO3 from .deb package after deinstalling all previous version and deleting oo folder.
Now all is working fine and my office 2007 docs are indexes well.
Thanks anyway for your support.
Next activity will be using CIFS, could you please tell me where can i find good documentation about this feature?
Bye

What did you use for the start executable in the customrepository.properties file?

Thanks,

HI, well if you have installed , as i had oo2 headless the executable was placed under /usr/bin  (soffice) , but it's a link to /usr/bin/open…..
After oo3 installation you will find NO /usr/bin/soffice link and all is installed under /opt/open…..  well in custom-repository.properties i've inserted
ooo.exe = /opt/open…../program/soffice.
This was a virtual machine that now is not started, try this, if you have problems i'll start it up and i'll  post correct path and whatever you need.
Regards.
