Hi team,
I'm using alfresco labs 3.0 stable version.
I have created four users and assigned 4 spaces.
Now i removed guest access to all the users home space.
User 1, having 4 subspaces in his home space. Now he want to give the access to the one of his sub spaces to user2.
For that he invited user2 as consumer to that subspace. But user 2 is not seeing that subspace in his home space?

Is it possible to share a subspace in home space to another user?

How to achieve this?

Regards,
Ganesh.

Hello Ganesh,
you can simply invite them via the access management. What they cannot do, is browse to the space, because they do not have access to the parent folders. But in the Mail oder Workflow Task or via manual message from you, you can supply a link to the space in question, which they can follow. And if this is a more permanent access, it makes sense for the "others" to create a shortcut link to the space in their own homespace.

This way, they can browse to their homespace and follow the link to you space from there.

Hi Norgan,
Thanks for ur reply. Yes exactly u r right. Actually parent Space does not have the permission for the other. So that why he is not able to see the subspace even we invited him. But i'm getting a bit confusion. How to create a link to my space and send it to the others?
Can u explain it a bit clear.. and any code snippet is more helpful.
Thanks again for ur support.

Ganesh

Hi Ganesh,
you can do it two ways. First you go into the details of the subspace, you want to share. There, you are offered a set of links, which you can copy & paste into an email to the other user. "Browse this space" is the link you are looking for, I think. I do not have access to my system in the moment, so you have to test, I am afraid.

The second way is, as an admin, you can create a "link" to an alfresco object. You can create a link to a space by copying the space into the alfresco-clipboard, then surf to the space, where you want the link to be. Then you have the option to paste the space - or just a link - into the targetspace. When you change the navigator view to "shelf", you have a view at your current explorer-clipboard and the options "copy" "link" and "delete".

The "link" option will create an object named "link to <spacename>.url" and look greyish. You can edit the name and extension to your liking. The displayed icon will then change accordingly. I assume, you can create such a "content" yourself as well, so you could create our own links, when someone else mails you a link to a space. Never tried it, though.

Hope that helps better Smiley Happy
