how to provide the file version for a specific period of time…..

Hi there,

Take a look at the following blog:

http://jared.ottleys.net/alfresco/alfresco-max-version-policy

It shows how to use an Alfresco policy to cap the number of versions maintained for a given document.  You should be able to modify the codebase to restrict versioning to a given time period.
