how to make Alfresco Share Dashlets Configurable

hii all,

i have found this below which explains how to create a configurable clrearly

but it is not working may be because of change in version i think ,anyone please tell me how to make a dashlet configurable


and  i dont have knowledge on YUI library is it necessary for me to learn it, if i want to create a configurable dashlet
