How to Change Alfresco Share Core Functionality

Dears,

I need a concise and precise steps to do the followings:

- I need to change or add new functionality to the alfresco share, all of you know documentlibrary component, and
all of you know that documentlibrary have a toolbar.

toolbar is a component have a buttons to "create content", "create folder" and etc. all of these buttons are correlated
with functions exist in the .js file "toolbar.get.js" and the view is rendered by "toolbar.get.html.ftl".
When i change the .ftl file i see the update but when i change the .js file i don't see the change.
note: change may be include remove functionality or add another one. and my question is there any way to change, add another button on the toolbar such as "create xxDocument" and associate it with function on .js file ? in the alfresco share.

- I follow all of these steps within all of these blogs to create new toolbar component.

but unfortunately there is no new news, and all my tries have been failed !!

can you please send me full example to customize alfresco share and if there is no way to do that, can you advise me cause i have a critical product and i need to take a decision ASAP.


Info about Alfresco enviornment

- Alfresco 3.4.d community eddition
- Tomcat 6
- MySql database
