Hi All,

How can I simply do a backup of an Alfresco DB? Can someone explain it more simply so that I can understand it every step of the way as a beginner. I couldn't find one that simply explains it on the net.

Your reply is much appreciated.

Thanks~
JP

Hi,

Do you want to backup just back Alfresco database or Alfresco all contents. If you want to take a backup of your space is very easy. Go to the web interface of Alfresco installation {Usually yourdomain/alfresco}. Login to the system as Administrator. Then right top area button called "Administration Console" and click on it. It show "Export" link. You can use this option to backup your content in Alfresco system.

Best Regards
Samu

You can do this by taking backup of your installation directory

Hi JJ,

That's it? I mean there's no need to use the PostgreSQL Admin to back up the database?

Thanks~

Hi JP
If you have done the default installation, taking backup of the installation directory will suffice( Please stop the service before taking backup)
If you have done advanced installation, your DB instance need to taken backup separately, because your DB instance is outside the default installation directory
Thanks

Hi JJ,

Thank you for clearing that one up! I have done the default installation and all I have got to do is stop the service and back up the whole installation directory. I didn't know that.

Thanks~

Hi JP
try to automate it, if you are using Linux, make use of cron, and rsync
If you use cron, no need for manually stoping, then backing up and then starting. The system will do it itself

Hi JJ,

Thanks again! I appreciate your help! Keep it up Smiley Happy
