Chat isn't available out of the box. Integration with something like OpenFire is on the radar. Can you give me the link you are referring to? Maybe it is a customization someone did.

Was the video you saw from Zaizi? (http://video.zaizi.com/ ) - I've not seen a write up on how Zaizi implemented that, so you'd need to talk to them directly about it.

I wrote up my notes when I had a play with something similar, they might give you an idea of how to implement something yourself: http://blogs.alfresco.com/wp/dwebster/2011/10/07/alfresco-example-extension-peerbind-demo/

If you're looking for integration with a third party solution - I think the Google Chat web view dashlet (as described here: http://blogs.alfresco.com/wp/wgonzalez/2011/05/26/real-time-social-collaboration-in-alfresco/ ) is probably the most straight forward, but the work in the Share-Extras project on, e.g. Yammer integration, would be well worth a look, depending on your use case: https://code.google.com/p/share-extras/wiki/YammerDashlet

Hope that helps,
David.

Hi,

We integrated Alfresco Share with Open Fire. It lets you talk to users in your site. See when they are online and leave them messages when they are online.

We are talking to the powers that be about contributing the extension back. In the meantime we'll do a write up.

Stay tuned…

Ditto on the interest for this … anything new on this since Ainga's post over a year ago?

Sorry to be mean but I don't trust Ainga words that much (facts prove I'm not mistaken). It's ages I'm listening to the same thing, but at the end I've seen nothing on their side, I've contacted them several times even to offer money for the chat but I got always NO PROPER REPLIES, it shows how professional they are, pff.
Back to to topic, I'm interested in integrating minijappix as well with a jabber server (in our case, prosody).
We believe a chat tool is really useful so if we can share our experiences here with the alfresco community I'm sure we can have a much better communication instead of waiting years for a reply of someone who doesn't take things seriously.

Alfresco wanted the chat integration for Alfresco Enterprise. After some discussions it wasn't a priority for them. It also isn't a priority for us. In the last 2 years we went from a small 4 person company to a 50 person global company. So apologise for the lack of response, but we've been really really really busy.

The whole chat integration has now been rewritten from scratch using Node.JS so it is cloud scalable. Alfresco licensing module has also been integrated so it will work similar to Alfresco Enterprise licenses. It's been tested against Alfresco Enterprise ONLY.

Further details will be coming out soon. In the meantime we now have a sales team who can field enquiries about pricing and things. His name is Jason and you can reach him at jrundel at zaizi dot com.

Hi,
thanks for your reply.
We can understand what busy means, but we contacted you and we found an informal agreement about getting the chat for testing purposes, but than after that no email from you anymore.
By the way, jrundel at zaizi dot com doesn't exist as email account.
