How do you handle meetings?

What is the recommended way of handling meetings?

As I see it there are events which have time and location but no participants, documents, etc.

Or there are sites which have all that but no time or location.

There seems to be meeting workspaces but you can only create them from within Outlook (?!) with a button that doesn't seem to be in my Outlook 2010.

Basically all I want is to be able to create a new meeting with time and place, add a few people, and share the relevant documents as well as that day's order of business.

It seems like one of the most basic tasks of a collaboration software like Alfresco so I can't shake the feeling that I'm missing something terribly obvious.

Thanks

So I assume that means in Alfresco companies you're not supposed to hold meetings?

Well, you could always use the Calendar page in a Site (create a site, customize it to add the calendar page, go to the calendar page and add events).

Those are the mentioned events.

You can't add members, you can't add documents, it has absolutely no functionality besides stating that there is some kind of meeting.

There is not even a way (as far as I can see) of linking it to a different (meeting specific) site.

Thanks a lot for being the only person to reply. I really am grateful, there is nothing as frustrating as talking to yourself on forums. 😃

But the lack of functionality of events is the reason I came here in the first place.

I agree that the current Calendar has limitations, it might be useful to raise your requirements as an Improvment ticket at http://issues.alfresco.com. Obviously there's no guarantee that your exact requirements will be implemented in the future but it would at least alert the Product Management requirement team to those requirements.

Also, you didn't really give a lot of time for a response to your original question… not counting the weekend it was only 2 working days, I'm not sure you can expect a better response time than that.

Sorry, I assumed the answer would be a short and sweet

"Use feature X, D'Oh! RTFM"
