How data model works

Hello Folks,

I am new to Alfresco. Could you please suggest me a book or documentation which explains Alfresco architecture? I am mainly interested in how it stores/manages structured data. Does it store them in the database or in xml. If it uses xml for that purpose, then what the database is for?

You should start with alfresco 3 cookbook, it's the best for people who want to start with alfresco, also you should read alfresco 4 enterprise content management implementation.
