How can I add a node which it is just an URL?

Just a question about content model:

I want to add a node to the repository, which it is just an URL instead of an uploaded/created file. Is it possible to do that in Alfresco? What is the best practice to do that?

I have tried extending the content model with a property "URL", type d:noderef. But the problems are:
(1) The node I want is just an URL without content.
(2) In the entering property form, "URL" is grey and I can't edit.

I notice that there is a type "cm:link" in contentModel.xml. How can I use it?

Is there anyone having experience with this issue? I really appreciate your help

I have this issue because I want to save both kinds of nodes in the repository: files saved in Alfresco repository or URLs linked to a remote resource. Fedora (CMS not OS) has a similiar function. I wonder, if Alfresco can do that and how can I set up the content model?

I would also be interested in approaches to this problem. One approach would be to use a custom model. But I don't see from what my new type/aspect should inherit.

Apparently, some work has already be done on this, see http://issues.alfresco.com/browse/AWC-253. However, I don't really understand Kevin's comment there:

What does this mean?

My comment is incorrect and the item was reopened. We still need to add that feature as part of the web-client foundation - you can probably create a bunch of custom files and model to do it, but it should really be in the web-client core… Hopefully we will get to it for 2.2…
