how are metadata stored in avm

I am trying to set up a system where I have one Alfresco Repository with documents that I want to make available through a website.  I am looking at using AVM to publish the documents and deploy them to another Alfresco Server that will be used to display the published website.

What I am not sure of is how metadata is stored and used for searches with AVM.  If I have metadata stored on documents and copy them to a web project to be deployed, how are the metadata on the documents stored on the deployed site?

It depends upon where you deploy the content to.   If you deploy to a live AVM store then your metadata is also deployed.   If you deploy to a DM store then the properties and aspects are copied over.   If you deploy to a filesystem, then although the properties are available there is nowhere for it to go.

Thanks for the quick response.

So, does that mean if I deploy to a live AVM store, which is part of the Alfresco Repository, the metadata will be stored just like any other document in the Alfresco Repository?  But that aspects won't be copied over, that aspects will only be copied over if they are stored in the DM store?

Then I would be able to use the Alfresco Server with the AVM to serve up the documents as a website?
