Graphical representation of running process

Hi forum,

Me and my company have been investigating activiti in order to see it's potential as workflow engine.
So far we are very impressed, but I would like to ask about a feature that I don't see in activiti.

We need to be able to view all running process and their graphical representation. Is this possible in activiti?
If not when will it be possible?

Regards,
Nelson Pereira

The display of processes is already in there, since yesterday: http://www.jorambarrez.be/blog/2010/12/16/automatic-bpmn-2-0-process-diagram-generation-in-activiti/

The next step is to use this to visualize the current step in the diagram. However, that feature is not yet planned.

Hi Joram,

Thanks for your update, although I was thinking more on the lines of being able to "view all running process" of a given process and then being able to select one of them and view it's current progress.

Will this be possible?

How would you see that, the visualization of 'all running processes' ?

Hi,

The idea is to have a console where I can see all running process instances.

I have a Request Vacation Process, but I might have 4 instances running of this process, that reflect 4 people that have requested a vacation.
The idea is to be able to list these 4 processes and be able to open them one at a time to see what's it's current status.

Hi,

the same is to find under http://forums.activiti.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=37

I am still wondering why this is not there right from the beginning, since I have to have a visual process controll for single process instances.

I still don't know how others use this engine if you do not have an overview where the process-instance is at runtime. Maybe this works with small processes, but def not with large long-time running processes.

Cheers, Rob.

Lack of such features will make the nice activiti out of most projects, please 🙂

Added my vote, but looks like it is still unassigned.

The fact that is it unassigned, isnt important, we go through every Jira each month.

The idea is that such a process instance inspection page will be added to Explorer in the future. For that, we must however also work out who can see what: you do not want that everybody in the company sees all the processes for example.
