I was under the understanding that the latest builds of 3.3 support editing of documents on-line with google docs.  Is there something I have to configure to be able to say directly edit a word doc thru Share?

Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply, they are the exact steps I have taken unfortunately,

3 Quick Questions if i may:

1. We use google as a hosted mail solution as well as googledocs, therefore our google user names are in the format "me@ourdomain.com" and not "me@gmail.com" could this be the problem?

2. Also related to the above question our GoogleDocs URL isnt http://docs.google.com we use http://docs.google.com/a/ourdomain.com.  I have changed the googledocs.url value to our address but this doesn't seem to work.

3. I haven't seen anyone mention the "googledocs.application.name" is this to be left as the default value?

Any Ideas?

Many Thanks
Matt

Maybe there are API differences between the public Google Docs service and that provided for Google for domains..?

I think it would be worth you making sure everything's ok with a "normal" setup first and then trying to configure for your hosted solution after you've proved the basics.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

No Joy unfortunately, I get the below now when I try to check out to googledocs using a standard login

10:32:50,427 DEBUG [org.alfresco.repo.googledocs.GoogleDocsServiceImpl] Trying to initialise google docs service for user me@mygmailaccount.com
10:32:55,052 DEBUG [org.alfresco.repo.googledocs.GoogleDocsServiceImpl] Successfully initialised google docs service for user me@mygmailaccount.com
10:32:55,100 DEBUG [org.alfresco.repo.googledocs.GoogleDocsServiceImpl] Creating folder SpacesStore
10:32:55,739 DEBUG [org.alfresco.repo.googledocs.GoogleDocsServiceImpl] Unable to create folder SpacesStore, because Invalid redirected-to URL - /DocAction?action=unsupported_browser\

Am i correct in thinking the URL is http://docs.google.com?

Also how do you set the googledoc usernames for the individual users? I cant see this anywhere?

Thanks
Matt

Finally managed to get this working with a standard googledocs account, but no joy as of yet with the domain specific account.  I read earlier in this thread that the account specified in the google.properties file was for the admin use only?  is this still the case?

Any ideas on what the URL would be for the provided Googledocs soloution?

Cheers
Matt

Hi All,

I have now created a work around that seems to work for us, Google spreadsheets are working well and can be checked-in, checked-out and edited.  The only remaining bug is when checking-in a Google text document.  for some reason it looks like the document is being converted into a PDF format and is then becoming corrupted.  Nothing noticeable is being logged to alfresco.log even with debug turned on for Google.

Any ideas what would cause this?

Right - I think I have narrowed down the problem.

It looks as though as the document is being checked in from Google-Docs it is being converted to PDF. (Is this being done by the Google API or by Alfresco?)  to confirm this theory I can download the document from Alfresco and this is then viewable within a PDF Viewer fine.

I have read on the net that Google have recently made changes to the word processor, could this have prompted the problems that I am having?

whilst reading several different articles I haven't seen any changes that have been made to the Google-Spreadsheets or Presentations.  Both of these continue to work perfectly with my Alfresco installation.  Is anyone able to aid me with troubleshooting this issue?

Many Thanks
Matt

For your google docs "system" account, can you check if the setting "New version of Google documents:    Create new text documents using the latest version of the document editor" is checked. Don't know if it makes a difference, but i might be best to uncheck it, following you line of thought.

Hi Loftux,

Looks like we think alike, I have tried both with and without that option ticked. I have also tried changing the Metadata of the file and changing the Mimetype of the document to "plain text", "OpenOffice Document" etc.

Unfortunately still no Joy, not to sure if anyone has replicated the same issues?

Many Thanks

FINALLY GOT THIS WORKING!

It was as we both thought Loftux, it was the setting to use the new editor but strangely on the master account and not the account that was doing the editing??? anyhow i am now a happy lad!  It's slightly worrying that the new changes to Google have had this effect.  Is there any plans to look at these issues, should I submit a bug fix?

Many Thanks
Matt
