General development estimate

I want to present alfresco as a intranet solution, having specialized project sites and department sites.

I want some help in determining the feasability, just an estimate of how much time this would take.. If there are any modules available that has similar function I would appreciate if you could give me some links, Ive been unable to find anything on the web.

The scenario is as follows..

Objective 1:

Make it possible to create 2 types of pages, one representing company/department entity and the other representing a project entity.

The project entity needs to belong to a company/department.

The company/department entity can be connected to another company/department entity.

Objective 2:

Display pages in a tree-like structure.

Example:

Company1
   Department1
      Department2
         Project1
         Project2
      Project3
Company2
   Department3
      Project4
   Department4
      Project5

Any ideas of how long this would take is appreciated.

You need to dig further into what your company and project entities do.

what do you mean by out-of-the-blue?

This is just a requirement i need to fullfill to get my boss interested in alfresco as a intranet solution..
I dont understand what is unclear.. I just want to accomplish this and present it to my boss, then I believe he will allocate resources to alfresco development and customization..

Im currently assigned elsewhere and will have to accomplish this on my sparetime, this is why Im wondering about an estimate, if it would be an enourmous project then I wont be able to do it..

The main problem with alfresco at the moment as I see it, atleast regarding our company, is that browsing sites would be too difficult having them all on the same "level"..
Our company consists of 5 subcompanies with 8 offices in 4 countries and the amount of projects would be overwhelming if we cant connect and browse them filtering by subcompanies and departments.

I meant "Out of the Box."     Just create a file/folder structure as above.   

Digging further into your requirements may help to determine what else you need …     You may, for example, want to add a custom type for company or department.   However without knowing what is special about a "company" or a "department" it is difficult to give further options.

Okey, the company entity would be considered a root-node.. it doesnt belong to anything..

All the department entities have to belong to either a company or another department.

And all project entities have to belong to either a department or another project.

This is all i want to accomplish.. and also be able to view these in a tree-like structure..

I have just installed alfresco, still battling with the ldap connection and im wondering how much time it would take studying development and also developing this funcitonality.
