Hello!
I´m having some trouble with the FTP Configuration on an Alfresco Labs installation.
The FTP Server is being started, but it is being impossible to connect to it while the authenticator can´t be recognized correctly.
As the log says, there is an wrong authentication setup for alfresco authenticator.

I´m am using Afresco with CAS-SSO and LDAP Authentication (Apache DS).

Here is my config for the FTP server in the file-servers.xml:

    <config evaluator="string-compare" condition="FTP Server">
     <serverEnable enabled="true"/>
          <debug flags="File,Search,Error,Directory,Info,DataPort"/>
     <port>21</port>
     <authenticator type="alfresco">
     </authenticator>
   </config>

And this is the important log output part after starting Alfresco:

Hi, Belmekki!

thank you very much for your answer!

I changed the FTP configuration as you described, but now Alfresco is missing an authenticator. This can be found in the log after starting the server:

Hello, Belmekki!

thank you very much for your help and time!

I still having the problem with the alfressco Authenticator after setting the FTP Server like you posted.

14:52:35,181 User:System ERROR [alfresco.smb.protocol] FTP server configuration error, Wrong authentication setup for alfresco authenticator
org.alfresco.error.AlfrescoRuntimeException: Wrong authentication setup for alfresco authenticator

Really strange behaviour…  Smiley Sad
Do you know where and how ist this authenticator configured? I didn´t set anything like this in my enviroment.
Also have not seen someone talking about setting this authenticator in any thread. And believe me, I have searched a lot!

If you have any idea of what could be wrong with my system, tell me please. I really don´t understand what´s happening.

Thanks a lot!

So now i got it working after setting the Chaining Authentication, which was the source of my problem with the authenticator.
The thing is that I´m using a CAS-SSO Authentication with LDAP, so the authentication must to be chained.
There is also a job, that imports the users from the LDAP Server, which is working correctly importing users and groups.

This is my chaining-authentication-context.xml file:

<beans>

    <!– Chaining of both the services and components –>

    <bean id="authenticationService" class="org.alfresco.repo.security.authentication.ChainingAuthenticationServiceImpl">

My problem now ist that I can get logged to the FTP Server with the default User "admin" but not with the imported users from the LDAP Server.
Should I start another thread to discuss this problem?

Does anybody have any idea, why it is hapenning?

Thanks!

Best regards.

I found now that the Authenticator is using MD4 Hashing for Passwords and I think, this is why I can´t login with the imported users.

11:45:30,432  DEBUG [ftp.protocol.auth] Authenticated user wagner.wutzke@test.net sts=false via MD4
I am currently using SHA-1 encryption on my LDAP server, what makes it reasonable.

But now the question: how can I change it and where?

Thanks!

Wagner

Really thanks one more time!
I can only login with the local (in Alfresco defined users, which are also in its database) into the FTP Server.

I have already read this Wiki, but I really dont understand what is this "authentication service" and how I should define it.

What I know ist that the FTP Server should be contacting the LDAP Server to grant the connection, until Alfresco has no User passwords, because they´re being imported from the LDAP and saved in a XML file.

What is wrong with my chainig-authentication file? I just chained the alfresco and ldap authenication services.

This all happens because of the LDAP users import, and that is the main problem. With a normal configuration, where users are in the alfrescos database, there is no problem logging in to ftp.

Nice you still trying to help me Belmekki!

Nice weekend!

This configuration is like mine. But mine still not working.
I post the chaning-context and the ldap-context one more time. They depend on each other, so there was nothing wrong with my chaining file.

There is no failure output in my logs, just The users still not able to log to the ftp server.
I could see that after adding a new user in alfresco itself, the user is able to log in to the ftp.
The problem is there anywhere between ftp and ldap authenticator.
I also though, it could be the MD4 hashing used on the password, but after saving the passwords with MD4 hashed passwords in the ldap, nothing changed.
So I have no ideas anymore Smiley Sad

Thanks !

Hello!

After that , be sure to add this section ( is not present in your chaining file ) :
<bean id="authenticationComponentImplLDAP" class="org.alfresco.repo.security.authentication.ldap.LDAPAuthenticationComponentImpl">
        <property name="LDAPInitialDirContextFactory">
            <ref bean="ldapInitialDirContextFactory"/>
        </property>
        <property name="userNameFormat">
               <value>%s</value>
        </property>
    </bean>

Also done, no success. This part still being in the ldap-authentication-context.xml like it always did. Therefore I posted it too.

And it will be more useful if you change your chaining file by mines and do the test.
This was the first ting I´ve made, but also no success.
Here the output after doing everything you told me:

Searching for "org.alfresco.repo.security.authentication.AbstractAuthenticationComponent.isSystemUserName" there is only one topic in french in google. Perhaps you from Morroco understand it. I can´t :/. This Exception also doesn´t give any enlightment about whats happening there…

What about you? Have you seen this error before?

Shukran!  :wink:

I'm on the same boat with 3.0b . Trying to get FTP authentication working.
My system is working great. LDAP authentication is in place, no chaining as I never got it to work, but the ftp server won't let me log in.

I've also tried your suggestions, starting from blank files and copying your code and it won't work.

This is my ldap.authentication.userNameFormat

uid=%s,ou=people,dc=mycompany,dc=com

and as I said, it is working.

Any more hints on how to get ftp working?
