FTP files uploaded to a site don't show up in activity feed

How come files uploaded via ftp don't show up in activity feeds? Im trying to have ftp uploaded files show up in my notification emails to users, but they won't if they are not seen in the activity feed. Is there any way to make this happen?

Activity Feeds are a Share thing. You'll notice the same problem if you create a file in Alfresco Explorer or through CMIS.
