I just installed alfresco on a windows 2003 server with mysql. The install worked great.
I can access http://server:8080/alfresco , now I'm just digging around the site and looking around the alfresco support site.
First thing what is the difference between the /alfresco and the /share sites?

I'm going to try to enable the NT authentication against our AD, also use the cif sharing and office intergration. There's lots of documents to read on the alfresco site, but I'm sure I'll be back here with lots of questions.

thanks,jb

unless I'm reading it wrong I'm running version 3 and a lot of the documentation I've found is for older versions. I don't see the version 3 docs. For example looking to setup email stuff I found http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/E-mail_Configuration but it says release 1.2?

Answers:

/alfresco is the alfresco explorer, the JSF based web client.
/share is the new web client.

Start Virtual Server is for the preview server of WCM.

Also make sure you take a look at the content community which you would have signed up to when you downloaded Alfresco.

Thank you for the info.

What's WCM?

WCM is Web Content Management.   One of the optional applications for Alfresco.
