Fedora 4 Tomcat - HTTP Status 404 for /alfresco/

Hi there,

Just installed our trial of enterprise alfresco but unfortunately when I browse to http://localhost:8080/alfresco/ i get a HTTP Status 404 - /alfresco/ error message. Tomcat is running fine.

I saw another post where a user had this same problem but it was never resolved, just tapered off.

Anyway, I have limited experience as far as Jave goes so you'll have to treat me like a dummy when you try to troubleshoot this one.

I suspect that it has something to do with jre. I had to install the RPM off the sun website. But i've read rantings of how it doesn't quite work on fedora 4, but i'm just no sure. It would be very easy to replicate.

Cheers,

Hi,

This means that the application did not deploy correctly, there are a few potential reasons for this, if you could post the errors you get from Tomcat when it starts up that would help us pinpoint a potential cause.

One of the most common reasons for a 404 error is problems with the database connection, are you able to connect to the alfresco database with the alfrersco/alfresco username/password from the command line?

Another reason could be the version of Java, did you install 1.5?

Hi Folks,

I am using Fedora Core 4 and have installed the Tomcat bundle, Java 1.5 jdk and get no errors on starting Alfresco.  I can connect to the database.  However I still get a 404 error stating that:

The requested resource (/alfresco/) is not available.

I am keen to get this running - any further suggestions as to what might be causing the error.

Regards

steve

Hello,

Could you post the error from your tomcat logs please?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

The earliest I can get to the server to get you the logs is on Friday (New Zealand Time). We really need to get it running before christmas because I will be away longer than the people who will be trialling it. I'll try your suggestions and see what I can find Smiley Happy

This is actually support for your Enterprise version so if you'd like to continue this thread via email that's ok.

Cheers,
