At my current company, we are evaluating Alfresco. We have solved most of questions but still have a few more:

- Is it possible to assign permissions to users or group of users?
- Can we change visibility/hide folders/spaces to users or group of users?
- Access thru https not only to login?

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I can help you with some answers:

1. Yes, see "Adding users to a Space" - http://hosted4.alfresco.com/alfresco/download/direct/workspace/SpacesStore/6cdc3656-ff02-11db-9d17-3.... You can assign permissions like " customer" do only see the documents to a space. You can assign that permissions to only one user or to a group of users.

2. Yes, If you don´t assing any permission to a user for that space… the space would not appear in his session, so is hiden…

3. I didn´t understood your last question…. Could you clarifiy?

Thanks cneto for your quick reply.

Forget the third question as I misunderstood a couple of things.

Anyway, I have got one question more. A user o group of users can inherit permissions?

Hi,

In Alfresco, you manage users/groups permissions in the spaces…
Example:
Imagine this space tree:
Home >
      Project >
           Project Software XPTO1
           Project Software XPTO2
           Project Software XPTO3

If you want to give access to the group "Project Managers" to all projects you just have to assign the group to the space "project" and then identify that Project Software XPTO1 ; Project Software XPTO2 ;  Project Software XPTO3 inherit permissions from "Project"…

I explained this to justify that you can not say that User A has exactly the same permissions that User B… But you can say that User B has the same permissions in Space A, A.1, A.2 , A.3…. and in all child spaces.  Even though, if you really want that, the best is to set up groups of users…
