ERROR: Replacing Default Fileystem Security Auth 2.9B CE

Env: RHEL 5(x86_32), Tomcat 6.0.13, Java6u2, Alfresco 2.9B CE

When replacing the default 'alfresco' authenticator for Filesystem Security with 'passthru'  and either JAAS or NTLM configurations the following error is observed when supplying a user/pass for authentication at the Alfresco LOGIN screen.

(The admin and guest user accounts are in the Alfresco user listings.) I'm using the extension samples from the 2.9B version. (Similar failure with working 2.1 xml files ported over for testing.)

Confrimed successful Kerberos auth/JAAS auth separate from Alfresco.

Anyone encountered the problem and worked past this?

Error after submitting user/password from login screen with anything other than 'alfresco' authenticator:

I will fix this for the next release. In the meantime, to avoid the NPE, please add the following property…

…to the overridden "authenticationComponent" bean definition. For example, in jaas-authentication-context.xml:
