Error in replication

Hi,

I am trying to use replication jobs from Alfresco share to transfer content across alfresco repositories. One of our replication job is failing consistently. Here are few details of volume -

Smiley Happy  Job 1 - 402 Files - 107 MB Total - Success

Smiley Happy Job 2 - 427 Files - 22.3 MB Total - Success

:!:  Job 3 - 879 Files - 1.21 GB Total - Failed

Last job failed. Job started: Thu 23 Dec 2010 15:37:59. Ended: Thu 23 Dec 2010 15:38:33.
11230003 Error executing transfer - 11230001 Received unsuccessful response code from target server: sendManifest, 500

Smiley Happy Job 4 - 692 Files - 1.31 GB Total - Sucess

I am not sure why Job 3 is always failing. It fails around 80 files and that seems to be failing consistently. The file sizes in that batch ranges from few KBs through 10-15 MBs max. Any idea when I get above error?

Thanks,
Sachin

Figured out the error myself. Initially I thought the error is related to volume of data. I was wrong. The error is related to metadata associated with files. The files had metadata and it was huge is size (text). I don't know whether it was caused by special characters or limits on characters, but when we removed that field from files, transfers happened without any issues.

Check the metadata associated on the files and it should be easy to figure out.

Do you have a repeatable test case?  If so please raise an issue in JIRA so it can be investigated.   Thanks

Hi,

I am dealing with the same dataset as the OP, and have discovered what is the initial (not root) cause:

We are using a script to load PDF files, along with associated metadata stored in our application's MySQL database, into Alfresco.  After some investigation, I narrowed it down to a single row in our app db.  One of our entities had a metadata field that contains the 'synchronous idle' character.

I was able to recreate the exception consistently with this character in the text.

Well done in finding that.

Could you please make sure that the issue is raised in JIRA so something can be done to fix it.   Thanks.
