Error code in starting Alfresco in Ubuntu

After installing record managements amps, in logging into Alfresco I got the following error message:

Which version of Alfresco you are running, is your web app server is Jboss or Tomcat, try a fresh install with no amps and then
try re-installing.

I have finally got Alfresco going, however Record Management is still proving problematic.  In explorer, I am not seeing the record space despite have remove and re-install the Alfresco-Community 3.2r2 several times.  My alfresco log indicate that the amps are installed, but I see nothing.  I have tried the ETHREEOH-1422 and did everything as instructed, but it did not work.  I am running Ubuntu 9.10, any suggestion?
