email notifications

Hello!

I've used alfresco by several months but I've never used email notifications.

Where could I find how alfresco works (not configuration) with email (outbound and inbound)?

For example for outbound  what notifications are sent? the new content added? discussions over a file?

Using content rules (http://www.alfresco.com/help/webclient/concepts/cuh-smartspaces.html) you can configure notifications for just about anything.
