Edit Properties in Alfresco 4.0

Is there a way in Alfresco 4.0 to allow the Edit Properties (Metadata in older versions) button open a popup window similar to manage aspects instead of going to a whole new web page for editing.  Our Users need to be able to see the document while they edit the Properties Data of the document.  For example, they look at the document for an Order Number and then enter that number into the Order Number box in the metadata of the document, however they can't do that if the "Edit Properties" button takes them to a whole new page.  We would rather allow some kind of popup or inline editing of the metadata than deal with that.

You can do this adding "Edit Properties" action in document details page.
copy the edit properties action <action index="130" id="document-edit-properties" /> from <actionGroup id="document-browse"> tag to <actionGroup id="document-details"> in below file
<Alfresco>\tomcat\webapps\share\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\share-documentlibrary-config.xml

in Edit popup dialogue to show your custom metadata you need to add entries in
<Alfresco>\tomcat\webapps\share\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\share-form-config.xml
