edit online slow

I just deployed Alfresco v3.4.d.  I noticed when using the 'edit online' feature is slow.  It takes almost 30 seconds to download the document to Word.  Once done I click save and it takes another 30 seconds.  My connection and server is very fast… My server can send to 100 mbps through the WAN and I'm able to easily receive 10 mbps.  So…  There's no doubt that I have enough bandwidth.  So, is this just normal behaivor?  Keep in mind I'm testing with small 60 KB Word files.

Thanks

Hello,

It is a known problem but there is no solution and no response back from Alfresco.  Big problem - when the file gets bigger you will wait for longer and longer. If the file gets big it can take many minutes to save.

Neil

It is a known problem…
Have you got a JIRA reference? That would help the original poster vote for and track the issue.

Thanks,
Mike

Hello,

There is no JIRA reference for the problem - there are multiple posts in the forum and other places but a JIRA has not been raised for the issue.  I don't know if any old person can raise a JIRA issue?

Cheers,

Neil

Hello,

In fact your problem is slightly different than others - the other problems are people downloading word files (or any office file) and then clicking save inside word.  It only happens with office documents though.

Cheers,

Neil

Absolutely - JIRA is open to anyone to raise reproducible bugs against Alfresco.

The reason I asked: it's not really a "known issue" unless there's a JIRA ticket open.

Thanks,
Mike

Unfortunately it's a separate registration at the moment (although you can use the same username & password as for the forums if you like). There's a big IT project internally to centralize all our logins across the various systems we use; once that is complete we should be able to introduce SSO across our community systems too. (I hope!)

Thanks,
Mike

I didn't know that anyone can raise an issue - thanks I will raise it.  We're probably going to stop using Alfresco because of this (and other things) but I'll still contribute back and keep going to try and get our system working.  We have a number of minor faults that are building up in intensity!
