I've got another request today please! In the web client, when a document has to be approved or rejected by a person, I would like to send an e-mail to the creator of this document to notify him of the state of the review! How can I possibly do that? The most difficult part for me in using Alfresco is that I do not understand where to change the code and how to integrate it in order to be able to apply and see the changes. I know that I have to stop the tomcat server, make my modifications by importing my changes and then restart the server, log on in to http://localhost:8080/alfresco. However, I still do not see what changes I've got to do, since I did not find a real good explanation (like a howto guide showing step by step what to do)…

I absolutely agree with you. For a project that I'm currently on, I've spent the past month having to explain to my client that standard features such as email notification on Forum post, having Forums groupings within an Alfresco Share site has to all be coded by hand. In most cases, trying to roll your own is remarkably difficult to get started; in that you have to know so much about a variety of technologies before you can get going.
All this makes for a very painful experience, that I will not soon forget for my next package evaluation.
I would advice you to buy alfresco developer guide for this, you will be able to develop skills for this .
