DNS name in Web Projects - Bug Report

Hi,

DNS name in Web Project (Alfresco WCM) must be only lowercase letters (no numbers, no uppercase letters, etc.), such as "wcmtraining". DNS name will become "AVM Store Root".

By this, the function "Preview Website" will work properly.

Otherwise, we will have an error for "Preview Website"

Bad host name:     wcmtraining.www–sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net

with DNS name "WCMraining".

Hi All,

This was linked from a JIRA i found while investigating the same problem.
Windows xp (sp3) server. Alfresco labs 3.1 final (complete one click install), sun java 1.5.0_16.

Still am getting the problem with mixed case dns names as it turns out (see http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=19130&p=62859)

It's likely a different problem other than using mixed case DNS names, as DNS names are case-insensitive.

Hi friends…
I am using alfresco community edition 3.3g….I need the steps to setup the master domain..
That is, I followed Getting Started with Alfresco Web Content Management tutorial 3.3 and created, deployed a web project successfully.

After deployment, when I previewed my website in the Staging Sandbox it opens an new window with the address:
http://sample.www--sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/
Here sample is the DNS name given by me during web project creation.

For example, If I need to have a site with the URL say http://sample.portal.local, how to do this.
That is
from http://sample.www--sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip … .net:8180/ to http://sample.portal.local

Do I need to configure this during my web project creation or any change in host file (Since I am using windows) is needed? Or is there any steps to set the complete domain (URL) without using www–sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180..

a 127-0-0-1 address in the virtual server lookup means that only clients able to access the loopback interface on the virtual server will function. ie: only those also on the virtual server.
