Custom Content Versioning

Hi there,

apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I could not find anything on the matter.

Config: Alfresco Community Edition 3.3 on Vista

Is there a way to customise the versioning of content in Alfresco?

My company uses the following (simple) scheme:
All documents start (internally) at version A and each internal revision leads to a change in the letter (i.e., version B, C, etc.)
Upon releasing the document to the client, the document takes vesion 0 (i.e. the first released version).
Each subsequent revision (initiated by client's comments, etc) increments this digit by 1, i.e. version 1, 2, 3 etc.

Can this be implemented in Alfresco?

Yes. You'll have to provide your custom version service implementation and configure it in.

I am far from being an expert so how should I go about implementing a custom version service? I looked into the sources and found a million and one files about version stuff…

Is there anywhere a simple example (although I am sure it is not so simple) to get me on the right track?
