Creating Multiple Discussions per site

I was wondering if there's a way of creating multiple discussions per Share site. I'm trying to simulate the same functionality that you would find in a typica Forum application (like phpBB) where you have multiple forums and then have topics under these forums. I'm guessing that the way a Share site is set up, one can only have one discussion forum for each site.

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Anyone has any input on this?

Thanks.

In theory it should be possible to do this, as the "container" for the discussions is a variable ("discussions" by default). This relates to the space in the Repository where the discussion objects are stored.

You'd need to duplicate the Discussion components configuration in site-data and set them to use a new container. Then do the same for the Discussions page and point it to use those components instead. Note this is all theoretical as (as far as I'm aware) this hasn't been tested particularly well, if at all.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the info, Mike.

I guess a clarification of what I was asking is the following, is it possible to dynamically create an additional discussion within a site.

I'm asking because we're trying to use Alfresco Share as our collaborative platform and would love to use the forums capability of Share instead of a separate platform. Other forum platforms have the ability to create multiple forums within a site (like of  phpBB which is used for Alfresco's Developer forum).

The site will be fully custom and be accessing Share (and Alfresco) functionality all through webscripts. This allows us to create a very rich and customizable UI outside of what Surf can provide.

Any idea if this is is possible.

Thanks again.
