Create REST API in Alfresco

Hi,

Im trying to get our system to integrate with the Alfresco REST API but can't seem to find any documentation on how to create a new record. All I can find is this, but you need to know the ID of the record (which obviously doesnt exist before you create it):

http://localhost:8080/alfresco/service/api/node/123/formprocessor

If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.
