Couldn't open socket: connection refused on Centos install

I've seenthis error in searches for mac installs but really no great answers.  I get the Mysql set up portion of the install  and i get the Couldn't open socket: connection refused error.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Almost certainly a local firewall / iptables issue blocking port 3306. Check one of the numerous Centos install guides on the wiki, e.g. http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Alfresco_Community_3.2r_WAR_on_Centos_5.4
