ContentStore not cleaning up. disk almost full

I an using Alfresco 4.2.c Community Edition, I was deleted a bunch of content via the web UI, but it is not freeing up disk space, I have looked at this article http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Content_Store_Configuration and changed the protect to 1 day. I even restarted alfresco and it's not moving the data.

I'm also not really clear on the life cycle of files in the system. If a file is deleted is it moved to contentstore.delted? Do I still have to manually purge contentstore.deleted folders?

If I upload 10 gigs of files via the WEB Ui and then later delete them all via Web interface. They disappear from the Web UI but I am not seeing any disk space come back.

I have a script running that logs the size if the O/S disk as well as the size of the contentstore and contentstore.deleted folders and they have changed size in 2 days.

Any thoughts?

Yes content-store.deleted is the last place where the content resides,  its a last chance to back it up.   Delete it and its gone.

When you delete content in alfresco the content is deleted from the workspace store (or wherever your node was to start with.)   Depending upon whether archiving is enabled (it normally is) the node is moved to the archive store.   I could then be recovered from the "trashcan".    The next step towards destruction is when the archive store is cleaned out.   At that point if there are no other references to the content item it is "orphaned".

The next step is that there is a scheduled job that typically runs in the early hours of the morning that moves oprhaned content from the content store into content store deleted.   Its worth noting that this is the only time that content gets altered in the content store.

Once the content is in the the deleted folder then it can be deleted.   And its gone forever.

What log should I check to make sure that the cleanup jobs are really running?

Hi,

I delete my files, delete from trashcan and my folder contentstore.deleted is always empty. Is there another place to go???
In this case, I am using tenants. They are located at tenantstores\tenant-name. Even after deleting the files from trashcan, they continue in the folder and the contentstore.deleted is empty. I set protectDays = 2.

Which folder files can I delete in this case? I need space.
Please any clues about this?

Hi! where you set the protectDays value?

My content-services-context.xml containt:

<value>${system.content.orphanProtectDays}</value>

and I don´t know where ir came from...

Best regards! Thanks. Angel
