Configuring SharePoint Protocol

I am fairly new to Alfresco and am trying to configure the Alfresco Protocol to work with Office 2007.

I have configured the custom.vti.properties file to say the following after installing the vti amp:


vti.server.port=7070
vti.alfresco.deployment.context=http://25.165.1.148:7070/alfresco
vti.share.shareHostWithPort=http://25.165.1.148:8080


I am using office 2007 and keep getting the following error when I try to create a Workspace.


"The action could not be completed. For more information, contact your site administrator, or try again later,"


Has anyone any ideas on what I might be doing wrong.

You don't state which Alfresco version you are using, but in Alfresco 3.2 the configuration should be something like this:

vti.server.port=7070 vti.alfresco.deployment.context=/alfresco vti.alfresco.alfresoHostWithPort=http://your-host:8080 vti.share.shareHostWithPort=http://your-share-host:8080 ‍‍‍‍

(Sample taken from install and config documentation)

This configuration should be placed in alfresco-global.properties.

The configuration from 3.0/3.1 looked pretty much the same, but without the vti.alfresco.alfresoHostWithPort property:

vti.server.port=7070 vti.alfresco.deployment.context=/alfresco vti.share.shareHostWithPort=http://your-share-host:8080‍‍‍

It should be in the file custom-vti.properties (not sure if the . between "custom" and "vti" in your filename was a typo).

Where have you placed the custom-vti.properties file? Are there any error messages in alfresco.log or catalina.out?

I have made some progress but am now getting 2 popup windows when I click the create button in Office 2007. After typeing in AlfrescoUpdatedocs in the Document Workspace name: and Location For new Workspace is set to http://25.165.1.148:7070/alfresco In Office 2007


1. The 1st popup window asks me for my username and password.

2. The 2nd popup windows gives the message

Saving as:

'HTTP://25.165.1.148:7070/alfrescp/AlfrescoUpdatedocs/documentLibrary/Gerald.docx'

and the progress bar never goes beyond 0%

When I type in my username and password in the popup window it asks me again for my Username and password until after the 4th or 5th time it gives me the message "Unable to connect to the Web server"

Have you any suggestions or has anyone seen this before.

Is there any information in your alfresco.log or catalina.out?

You could turn on more verbose logging in log4j.properties by uncommenting the row about VTI:

I have attacted what appears in the Alfreco.log and catalina.out once I try to use the sharepoint protocol. I will switch on the verbose logging and post it shortly

After manual login I'm also prompted for my credentials again, making the log repeat itself.

I use ntlm sso for my ldap-ad synced users (works well with Internet Explorer and CIFS).

Is this linked with https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALFCOM-1858, which I don't exactly understand.
"Shared Workspace functionality shouldn't work with Alfresco Labs." Is this added now, or is this still the same?

My problem turned out to be an authentication related-one. To be able to sign on, I had to use alfrescoNtlm as the subsystem.

authentication.chain=localusers:alfrescoNtlm

As I add other subsystems, I am not able to login, although alfrescoNtlm stays the preceeding one.
