Hi Guys
                    Platform : Windows XP Sp2

I first installed mysql.
then I installed full version of Alfresco

Then like a stupid foll, I deleted alfresco wanting to install somewhere else but I am now back at the same machine….

And, I have nothing but troubles re-installing…

Is there a recipe for me TOTALLY un-install  MYSQL

Then totally uninstall Alfresco…..

Like it was before I started…..  And then

Re-do like nothing ever happened before.

The trouble is I dont want to re-image my desktop and I want to test if I can use this software as a home repository to keep track of all the stupid files we create and keep on laptop and have no version control et all….

Thanks for your help, because this software looks like smart enough for GE and British Petroleum but easy enough for idiots like me!!!!!

Hi,
I think that s possible to do a full reinstall of alfresco .
All you have to do is to open your command ligne and execute $alfresco_Home\extras\databases\mysql\db_remove.bat , then your database will be empty.
Second step will be to extract alfresco-community-tomcat-XXX where XXX is the version you want to use, then open you command ligne ,execute $alfresco_Home\extras\databases\mysql\db_setup.bat, and all will be reinstalled cleanly.
I did this many time on XP SP2 ( Windows Trust ) and every time it works well.
Hope that will helps you.

Hi there

This did work. Thanks very much for help. Somehow as community we need to contribute and make a much richer documentation for Alfresco to gain traction like Drupal/Joomla/Wordpress.  Although they are different application, its a breeze to install, configure and start using them.

But for simple document management, there are no other applications in open source that would qualify.  I recently tried Hyperic and was amazed at the simplicity and documentation there as well.

I guess we can all make a difference and write small howtos.

The best way to contribute is to add/edit the wiki.

Many thanks,
Mike

Everything helps! Our own documentation team keep a close eye on contributions, so can always correct any obvious mistakes quickly.

Thanks,
