CIFS Guest Account Access

I have configured CIFS using NTLM with the allowGuest access option.  I can access the share as guest and see three folders: Alfresco, AVM, and guest.  I have access to the guest folder which is a copy of the "Guest Home" folder in company home.  However, I cannot open the Alfresco folder even though I have folders within which have given the guest user permission to read.

Is there some way of allowing the CIFS "Alfresco" folder (and subfolders) to be accessible by the Guest user?

Hi

No.

Whatever you use for your CIFS mount points you must be able navigate from these locations to where you want to go - just like you would have to do in windows and unix. You could add additional mount points to the config or add guest permissions etc as required to expose what you want.

Thanks Andy.

My share is currently mapped to Company Home which I have given Guest consumer access to.  Yet it does not allow me to browse this in CIFS.

If I can't get Guest to work, I could always create my own anonymous user and write my own authenticator to log unknown users into this account.  Though I thought this was what the out-of-the box Alfresco Guest account would be for.

I'll look into it more.

Nevermind.  It works fine by adding the Guest to Company Home.  Must've been user error. 😃
