Hi there,
the only diference is, that in the documentation, the virtual name for your CIFS server is "<servername>_a" and in the config files, published with 2.1 enterprise and 2.90B Community are "<servername>A".

Just choose, which ever version you prefer and stick with it. And when you decided, add an entry into your /etc/hosts file of your server
<your IP address> <servername>_a

On my machine "alfresco" with IP 192.168.123.1 I needed to add following line to /etc/hosts, otherwise the CIFS access would not work there :
192.168.123.1    alfresco alfresco_a

Hi there,
I dont know, what could be done after that, honestly.
Only to recheck, what "needs" to be done

1) name resolution in /etc/hosts with real IP added (not 127.0.0.1)
2) maybe, copy the CIFS section from file-server.xml into file-server-custom.xml (see Wiki "Server configuration" for that)
3) open firewall ports for remote tests
4) start alfresco
5) and oh - under windows, I ususally have to open a connection with the user / password combination, which has access to alfresco
With an alfresco user "tester / tester", that woul d be \\user@servername_A\Alfresco, otherwise, windows uses the windows username

Other than that, I have been using Alfresco for 2 weeks and am no linux expert, so I would be at a loss for more tipps
