CIFS and SMB security vulnerabilities discussion

Hi all

I am new to CISF, SMB and their security.
I want to implement CIFS, but the security experts in the company is reluctant and warns me of the vulnerabilities in using CIFS.
Can anybody please comment

Why don't you have your security expert enumerate the vulnerabilities he's concerned with so that they can be addressed.

Could someone please elaborate on (or better yet, provide links to documentation about) how Alfresco's or JLAN's CIFS implementation is more secure than window's? In general, how does it compare to Samba's known security issues?
