CIFS - Admin account not working.

Hello,

I am running Alfresco 3.3 on Debian.
I just activated CIFS support without issues.

Since I activated CIFS support I can't log on anymore with the admin account.

When I try I can see in the log file the following error message :

ERROR [org.alfresco.smb.protocol.auth] java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe

I really need an admin user to perform backup using cifs.

Have you ever meet this issue ?

Regards,

You are saying that CIFS work, but not with the admin account? So you have connected with one account from your machine, and now tryint to connect with admin (just asking). If so, the logout, adn login again, windows may store your current credentials.
Can you post you authentication chaing that you have in alfresco-global.properties? And any other settings related to cifs you may have changed.

What is it you are backing up using cifs? If it is Alfresco itself, then you are on the wrong track. You would loose most of your data, not the actual content files, but all your metadata, version history, share sites configuration etc. Instead do http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Backup_and_Restore.
And if you are storing backup data in Alfresco, maybe not such a good idea either.

Hi,

thank you for your reply.

Yes CIFS authentification is working, but not the local admin account.

We use the following authentifcation chain :

authentication.chain=passthru1Smiley Tongueassthru,ldap1:ldap,alfrescoNtlm1:alfrescoNtlm

I tried to logout and login again, I try to connect with IE as well but it didn't worked.

We plan to use cifs to backup the data only, plus to backup alfresco configuration as it is describe on the wiki.

For cifs sso (which passtrhu essentially is) will only try the first of the options in the authentication chain that supports cifs authentication. If that fail, it stops. Compared to the web, where it tries each authenticator in turn, and finds one that authenticates you, or fail.

So you would have to set an administrator name for
passthru.authentication.defaultAdministratorUserNames=
and a username from AD that you want to be administrator.

But again, CIFS interface is not meant to do backups of Alfresco. You will miss all versions, alla metadata, …
You can even skip doing backups of Alfresco config, because there is no way you can do a restore of Alfresco repository from what you have backed up. Do a backup of alf_data as per the wiki article I linked to. And of course backup the database as per the wiki.

Hello,

thank you for the answer.

And for the backup I just create a script in order to do Alfresco hot backups.

I want to use cifs in order to have both backup : incremental running rsync each 2H.

Thanks !
