I cannot map a drive to my alfresco server using Windows 7.

To map drive:
Enter this as the server path in the map drive dialog:
        \\192.168.1.9\alfresco\Users\eric
   Get prompted for password.
Enter password that works to access alfresco anywhere else.
Keep getting wrong password message from Windows. ("The specified network password is not correct.")

I also tried using the port number (which seems to be necessary for all other ways of connecting to Alfresco. But this gives a "Windows cannot access \\192.168.1.9:808\alfresco\webdav".  I get the same result trying a path without the "/webdav" at the end.

Win7 and WebDav is a real problem.

Seem to me that it is not 100% finished for win7 by now. I think your problem has noting to do with alfresco but with WebDAV support in Win7.

We have had to user a 3rd party tool to get it work with netstorage. Which worked at the end. I do not know if this can help you with alfresco but here:

http://www.netdrive.net/

you can find the software we use for webdav in win7 64bit

We use netdrive with Windows 7, although depending on the version it seems a bit flakey….

You can also use bitKinex which also supports webdav.. Its interface is more FTP like though.

Hi ericalfr,

I realize this thread was opened some time ago. But I just thought the problem looked very similar to the one I faced.

I have found the solution mentioned in the link below helpful to my problem:
http://blog.another-d-mention.ro/misc/alfresco-cifs-shared-drive-authentication-problem/

From the link:
What you have to do is go to your hosts file (Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) and add a new line in there mapping the workstaionA (Where workstationA is your computer name + the letter a) to some unused IP address.
13.13.13.13 workstationA
That's it, now it works and you can map it as a network drive and do your development in peace.
net use X: \\workstationA\Alfresco /user:admin admin /persistent:yes
