Can I use alfresco for this?

Dear all,

This is my first post here and I am not sure if I am in the right place or not!

Basically I have been developing websites with Springframework, Hibernate, and other Java technologies for quite sometime now, however I never actually implemented any content management system for these websites.

I am now trying to develop a web application which content can be managed using a content management system. This is how I came across with ‘Alfresco’.

At first glance it seems that Alfresco is what I am looking for, however I still can not understand how I can integrate Alfresco with my web applications and so far could not find any documentation that shows how to do this.

What I want is a system (or framework) that allows the content of my website to be managed from an external application.

From my understanding I need first of all some sort of framework to integrate within my web application (so that the content of my website is loaded from a database) and then some sort of application from were this content can actually be managed. From what I can see it seems that Alfresco satisfies the second part of what I am searching for right!? or?

Again I could be totally wrong and am not sure if my understanding of a content management system is correct since I am very new to this, but really willing to integrate a content management system into my web projects.

Basically I have found the documentation I was searching for seems I was looking in the wrong place. The documentation I found is very good and has already gave me a good idea on how to integrate Alfresco in my web applications.

Please also note that with 2.0.0, our new WCM offering enables you to manage your entire web application in the context of the Alfresco repository using a new versioning and staging model with built in support for web app virtualization (to preview any arbitrary in-progress development state of the website).  This WCM capability was targeted to support developers such as yourselves building new web apps that leverage Alfresco as a run-time repository and host for embedded content management services.  Our WCM offering in addition to the above provides built-in support for snapshoting and deployment - so that you can take a known good version of your site and transactionally replicate to one or multiple run-time Alfresco servers in an incremental manner with built in support for rollback.

I'd highly encourage you to look into leveraging Alfresco WCM to manage ongoing development, test, and release management of your custom Spring-based web app.  That way, as you modify your web app to make new calls to Alfresco, you can test those calls within the context of Alfresco itself in a staged version of your web app before promoting to production.

I´m developing a web site. My needs are to take content from an external database and modify it. For example a person who have not knowledges about web programming should can change a content ,like a phone number, and then the web page will be update.
