Can Alfresco do this?

I work for a publisher, and I'm evaluating CMS/DMS systems for deployment across various areas of our organization. Because of the way the cogs in the publishing gears work together, there is frequently the need for overlapping access to the same documents, albeit via different paths. For example, any given book may have multiple contracts associated with it, and, of course, for each author, there can be multiple books. Our rights department may want to drill down to a contract this way: Author>Book>Contract. Our finance department may want to drill down to one or more  contracts this way: Author>Contracts>Contract. I want the contracts to be stored only once, but I want to be able to organize them in various ways depending on the requirements of a given group of users. Will Alfresco allow us to do this?

Thanks,
Greg

Sounds like you need to browse by Category hierarchy, rather than by folder. Take a look at the 3rd party Docasu interface, which I believe allows you to do this. FlexSpaces may also offer the same feature.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike, FlexSpaces looks very interesting, I'm not sure yet if Docasu can do this though.
