Calais Integration and Semantic Auto-Tagging

The Calais Integration for Alfresco is now avalable in the forge

This server extension leverages the Open Calais service to automatically extract semantic metadata from documents, has a semantic auto-tagging action service, tag suggest api, enables use of semantic metadata in search. Tags include linked data URIs, and provides geo-location info if avalable from Calais. Extracted RDF and/or JSON can optionally be associated with documents. Provides a web script REST api. It also adds an auto tagging action with dialog to the Alfresco web client (Explorer). The Calais integration service is implemented in Java, and most of the REST api web scripts are implemented in JavaScript (one web script is Java based).

FlexSpaces  uses this Calais integration and provides Flex based UI for semantic tagging, multiple semantic tag clouds,  and a google map displaying geo-location tags.

Very exciting to see this contribution, thanks for sharing this with the community. The ability to auto-tag content that is added to a repo helps ensure that not only is content tagged but that it is tagged in a consistent way.

Open Calais service 4.0 features 
1. "Extracting entities is great – being able to use those extractions to open a whole world of reference data about those entities is even better. In this release approximately 25 entities are now connected to the Linked Data cloud. As a simple example you can extract a company name using Calais. You are then able to not only retrieve basic Company information from the Calais Linked Data endpoints – you are also able to follow links in these endpoints to DBPedia and other sources to gather a wide range of additional information about the company. So – rather than just having the company name you have the Name, the ticker, the industry codes, the description, the members of the Board, the products, the locations"

Released 1.3 of the Alfresco OpenCalais Integration
It now includes Share UI (semantic tag cloud dashlet, geo-tagged semantic map (google map) dashlet, auto-tag action) for Alfresco 3.3 and 3.4
