Hello,
i want to create a new workflow. I read in the wiki i have to create a xml file. This should be possible with the jBPM Designer in Eclipse?
i got the jBPM (latest i think 4.2) and the latest Eclipse version but i dont get the Designer installed.
In Eclipse via Help->Install new Software… > Add …
I selected the downloaded .jar but eclipse says: no valid archive -.-
I dont know what is wrong 😞

I found the jBPM Designer to be of limited value relative to the time it took to get it installed and working.  I created a diagram of the process flow using it, but then abandoned the tool once the initial XML stubs were in place.  After that, using an editor to modify the processdefinition.xml file seemed like the faster way to go.  For my next workflow, I won't use the tool at all.  I'll just create the XML with an editor.

I did run a completed processdefinition file through the designer to reverse engineer a diagram which worked out nicely for documentation purposes.

The designer has so many bugs, which is a pity because it would be useful, and clients are strongly asking for such a tool.

I added a lot of information to the Wiki to explain how to circumvent the designer's bug, installation should work and you should be able to create and deploy a workflow using the instructions:
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/WorkflowAdministration#Installing_JBoss_jBPM_Process_Designer

I works on my computer. Please all let me know if the instruction work for you.

Cheers,
Nicolas Raoul
