Association roles?

While reading "Alfresco 3 Web Services" book I came upon association roles (page 46 and later page 68 - source code).

Anyone knows what are those roles used for? They aren't described anywhere.

Hi,

Page 46 & page 68 source code refers to the term "Associations" and not "Association Roles".

Associations may be of two types - Child & Non Child [Peer what the book refers] .

Look at the association definition…

The source and target tags have child tag named role. I'm asking about this.
