Can an aspect have a parent?

<aspect name="exaSmiley TonguearentAspect">
   <title>parent aspect</title>
         <properties>
   <property name="exa:someProperty">
       <type>d:text</type>
   </property>
         <properties>
</aspect>
<aspect name="exa:childAspect">
   <title>child aspect</title>
   <parent>exaSmiley TonguearentAspect</parent>
         <properties>
   <property name="exa:childProperty">
       <type>d:text</type>
   </property>
         <properties>
</aspect>

If they can't, can aspects share properties?

I think the answer to both questions is No.

What are you trying to achieve?

thanks for the reply.  I wanted to have aspects with many similar properties.

the workaround is probably just to have one aspect with a number of properties blank when used in different situations or for different content.

If you're using Share you could write a "custom control" to not show some properties in a specific situation. Maybe that also helps you.
