Effectivity Dates and associated documents

Hi,
In our client's organisation, they have time limited legal T&Cs which they attach to documents. We're using associations to link these documents, and using the effectivity aspect on the legal T&Cs.

What we want is to be able to alert content owners when the effectivity date on any associated T&C document one week before it expires. I presume that this will be achieved by a rule?

A rule needs to be triggered by an event, so that not something you can really use. But you can use the functionality of scheduled jobs (by Quartz). You could write a javascript to search for these documents and send mail if the date is a week or less than the effective date.
