Are web site components also alfresco documents?

Hi,

I'm wondering if web site components (like, for example, company_footers/Alfresco.xml) are (or will be) fully functioning Alfresco documents?

In particular, will they be versionable? Is there some reason why (in the WCM preview) the web site parts don't have the standard property sheets, categorization, run action, etc.?

Thanks,

Fred

Fred, yes, all web assets are fully versionable.  Under the covers (not displayed in the GUI), all submitted assets are being versioned, as well as the staging being snapshotted.

For the GA release, we will be exposing file version history and the ability to roll back to an older file version in a sandbox and resubmit to staging.  We will also be exposing snapshots in staging and the ability to rollback to any earlier snapshot and redeploy.  Lastly, we intend to expose normal property sheets and actions as well … so stay tuned for the GA release (mid-December).

To track items on deck for the GA release, please take a look at http://issues.alfresco.com, and do not hestitate to ask any further questions.  Also, please stay tuned for a detailed wiki update this coming Friday, Nov. 3rd.
