Are Web Frameworks like JSF / Struts supported in WCM 2.1 ?

We have a requirement to integrate a complex Web application (Struts2 + Spring + Hibernate) with Alfresco WCM 2.1
In July we were told web frameworks are not supported. See

Struts is supported in 2.1E (may likely need 2.1.1E, as there was one bug fix I'm aware of).

JSF is not supported via the Virtualization Server.  For JSF, you can use the new Test Server capabilities in our 2.2E Beta (in part what designed for).
