Good Morning
We are tryting to set up an Alfresco V3.2 application following this architecture MySQL DB will be in server A, and the Alfresco application will run in a different server B. Installing it and launching it works 100% fine, however the performance of this archicture it is very slow (well it is useless). Normal process having the installation of both DB and application in the same machine that takes 3-5 secs here use to take 5 mins, and processes that use to take 5 mins in this architecture takes around 3 hours….
Is there any file configuration we must change in order to get this architecture working normally? Any suggestion or pointing me to the right documentation will be very apprceiated
.
Thanks a lot in advance guys!!

I suspect you have a networking issue here. Are your servers connected together with a good fast network?

Hi, thanks for the quick answer.
Yes they are, they are even in the same rack both servers, hub and router. Do you think the architechture is ok or to get this to work we should apply any specific configuration ?. To install it we just followed the normal steps of the installation wizard.
I have found another post
http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26791&p=90140&hilit=remote+db#p90140
where problem seems to be similar
Thanks again

Hi Rogers
Could you please share with us your thoughts about this issue? We have found in other posts that when people runs an installation of Alfresco having the application in one server and the MySQL DB instance in another one, performance gets slowed down too much making it useless like we are having.
Is Alfresco available to work this way for just a simple non clustered configuration (and if so what do you think we could be doing wrong), or if we do not want to get a cluster configuration we should have both DB and Application instances in the same physical machine?
Your thoughts will be very appreciated.
Regards

I think we need some help from a mysql administrator here.
And what OS are you running mysql on since that may also have an effect?
I'd anticipate that most of the bigger instances of alfresco will have a separate db server so someone out there must be able to get it to work.

Hi Rogers
Both machines are running over the linux distribution Suse 10.
Hope someone got it to work or can let us know if this is possible or not 🙂
Thanks once more
