Alfresco Records Management component

Is it possible to integrate only the Records management piece of the Alfresco framework into a custom application?  From what I have read, it seems that this piece is tightly integrated with the Content Management piece of Alfresco, and cannot be run independent of it.  Any info appeciated.

This has been done for the final 1.4 release - we left it as part of the main install for the preview etc. so people could try it out and report issues. For the final 1.4 release it will be an extension that can be bootstrapped into the system as required.

Thanks, I'm checking out the community edition now.  Since we already have a custom app for documente management, we now just need the records management piece.
